Noise adversely affects child’s development
Noisy environments can hinder the development of children’s languages. At an American university, they collected 100 young children aged 1 to 2 who are learning words and conducted experiments of noise influence. They divided the children into a room with noises and a room with quiet surroundings. Then, they tested to remember the name of things under each condition. As a result, it seems that when the surroundings are noisy, they can not remember the names of things more accurately than when the surroundings are quiet.
Children are hard to fill in the spaces of conversation and words
For adults like us, simple things that you do not need to be aware of are sometimes very difficult skills for children. For example, if you are an adult, even if a conversation is occasionally interrupted by sneezing or a car sound during a conversation, you can continue to talk by converting correctly in your head by drawing on the flow of the experience in the past. However, children can not do such complementary work. Children still can not fill the part they heard during the conversation because the ability on words is still immature.
In order to teach the language to young children, it is important to read books and talk a lot, but in a noisy environment like the above experiments, improvement of language ability may not be expected easily.
It is difficult to listen when the sound echoes
In an environment where the sound echoes, it will be difficult to hear the voice accurately. For example, in classrooms in kindergartens and nursery schools, it seems that the teacher’s voice often tends to echoe easily. Children may not be able to hear the teachings or instructions of the teacher, and they may not be able to hear what they say.
In such a case you may be able to solve the problem by using sound absorbing material, like our acoustic panel “SHIZUKA Stilness Panel“. Although SSP is a panel for sound, there may be such a way of using Sound absorption performance.
