About six years ago, I made a soundproof construction in a room (about 14 square meters) in the condominium, and I made a wishful audio room. Emphasis is placed on sound insulation, wrapping in silence when entering the room, it is nice to be able to ring at a loud volume without concern for family members and neighborhoods. 

However, since we originally asked for “sound insulation” in an air-tight condominium, there was no escape place for sounds, and we were suffering from considerable standing waves. Standing wave countermeasures based on “sound absorption” and “diffusion” of the floor, wall and ceiling are carried out in a room with a rectangular parallelepiped with 6 planes. As a result of repeated trial and error, various acoustic accessories are introduced as well as carpets, curtains, etc. As a result, by applying the hybrid panel (wood + sound absorbing material) invented by oneself on the wall surface, satisfactory acoustics has been obtained.

Still, one of the big weakness is “around the door”. Measures are limited due to opening and closing relationship. The back behind the listening position becomes a door, but I thought that I had to manage somehow “sound puddle” around that corner. When I thought so, I had the opportunity to use SHIZUKA Stillness Panel. As soon as I tried it, the low frequency boom that I was concerned was reduced, at the same time a slight turbidity that had been affecting the whole range was also resolved, and an improvement was seen to a refreshing sound. Especially, the effect is acknowledged by the acoustic sound of the wood base and piano.

Actually, the size of 1 meter by 1 meter would be more effective, but I had no place to put it anyway and I thought it would be hard to move each time I opened and closed the door. Therefore, I decided to introduce two compact 50 centimeters by 50 centimeters size. As shown in the picture, after closing the door, I put 2 pieces with the image covering the corner. The panel is light and stable, so you can move easily. In the meantime I would like to enjoy comfortable audio life with this style.
