Comparing various sounds using acoustic panels : Classic, Bossa nova, Techno, Jazz, and Japanese music

This is Mr.I of Shizuka Co., Ltd..

Today’s article is about comments on listening compare with music of various genres using our acoutic panel “SHIZUKA Stillness Panel“.
original article in Japanese (日本語の記事)

In our internal meeting, we installed the SHIZUKA Stillness Panel (SSP) behind the speaker and compared sounds. We placed a small speaker on the desk and played sounds with Bluetooth. The sound is echoing compared to the environment at home. We tried is SSP(500 mm×500 mm size), SSP for corner placement, SSP for prototype, and nonwoven fabric sound absorbing material. In addition, we played classic, bossa nova, techno, Japanese music, jazz music randomly as a sound source and compared the difference.

Here are some impressions from the experimenter.

☆ By putting a sound absorbing panel, the sound level becomes large although you are not raising the volume, and the three-dimensional feeling of sound increases.

☆ The best way to hear is using the SSP for corner placement. Steady sound absorption is carried out.

☆ Since non-woven fabric sound absorbing material alone can not insulate sound, it is difficult to determine whether or not it is absorbing sound. A standing wave is generated even if it stands independent from the wall.

☆ The distance between the speaker and the sound absorbing panel increases by about 10 cm away from the nearest, the presence of the sound increases.

☆ Techno music  (which has bass and treble mixed) makes the difference of sound the most clear.
Etc.

If you are arranging the sound field for your home, you will see a great effect by using a sound absorption panel. Please try it by all means.
